HEARTSONG missions are about connecting what we do inside with what we do on the outside. God is on a mission, and we love to find ways to be a part of that wherever we are. Our mission field isn't thousands of miles away. Our mission field can be right outside our back door, in our work environments, our schools, and neighborhoods or it can be all the way around on the other side of the world. We strongly encourage everyone to step out and we try to do so by having different types of missions work. All of our mission teams are led by our flock and have bubbled up out of an outflowing of Jesus' love in their heart for him and for others.
Conspiracies of Kindness - Conspiracies of Kindness are a first step into the mission field. Groups of people organize outings with the sole intent of doing acts of random kindness for other in our community. In the past, this has taken on the form of washing windshields while people are shopping, paying for car washes as people drive up to a local car wash, or passing out candy at a local shopping center.
Local Mission - Local mission outings are coordinated to give people a sense of serving others in a more direct way. An example of a local mission outing is a quartlerly trip to take people to serve food to the homeless with St. John United Methodist Church or sharing meals at Forgiveness House.
These two are examples of small steps that we take to expose people to different environments where God is working. These steps help get small groups and individuals active in God's mission. We have several that go on to accept other mission experiences such as the Kairos Prison Ministry (Men's & Women's prison) and Kairos Outside (serving families of those who are incarcerated).
The opportunities are endless, and these are only a few examples. We strive to provide opportunities and places where you can sing the song God has planted in your heart.
